Toni Kroos insists his German Footballer of the Year award came after his performances last season at Real Madrid.

Former Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos ended his playing career in the best possible way. Winning La Liga and the Champions League with Los Blancos. Before being named Germany’s Player of the Year for the second time, Kicker reported on Sunday. UFABET

Kroos’ career may not have ended perfectly after Germany were knocked out of Euro 2024 by Spain in the quarter-finals. But the 34-year-old midfielder still claimed one final award of his career. After being named Germany’s Player of the Year for the second time, receiving 285 votes in a poll by Kicker. Ahead of Leverkusen’s 21-year-old midfielder Florian Wirtz, who received 246 votes.

‘This award is a great confirmation and recognition of what I have achieved in the past year. Even though this is the last time I receive this award. But this award is not about thanking players who have ended their careers.’

‘It’s an award that has nothing to do with age or the end of your career. But with your performance on the pitch. At least I hope so,’ Kroos said with a laugh.

Kroos racked up awards and trophies in his 17-year senior career. Including three Bundesliga titles with Bayern Munich and four with Real Madrid.
